How close can we really get to art? That was the question behind this immersive experience I helped design for Google’s Arts & Culture team—an interactive installation that brings iconic artworks to life at a scale and clarity never before possible.
Originally developed as the Gigapixel Project (now Zoom Views), the technology captures masterworks in ultra-high definition—revealing brushstrokes, textures, and details invisible to the naked eye. We took this staggering fidelity and turned it into an embodied experience: a user steps up to a podium in front of a massive screen, and suddenly, they’re not just looking at art—they’re inside it.

The interface is designed to feel as intuitive as it is magical. A touch screen and motion tracking system allow users to fly through Van Gogh’s Starry Night or dive deep into Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring. Haptic feedback guides the journey, grounding visitors in a visceral sense of movement as they zoom, glide, and explore.
This project democratizes access to cultural heritage. It transforms passive viewing into active discovery—making world-class art feel intimate, alive, and available to everyone, regardless of geography or proximity to a museum.
